Commons:Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 in Ireland
Wiki Loves Monuments (http://www.wikilovesmonuments.org) is an annual international photography contest and crowdsourcing event in which participants photograph and upload images of historic monuments to Wikimedia Commons. These images are then available for free use on Wikipedia and beyond. More details about this year's annual competition can be found at Wiki Loves Monuments IE. The competition takes place throughout the month of September each year.
Wikimedia Community Ireland, hosted Wiki Loves Monuments 2015 in Ireland from the 23rd August to the 30th September 2015. For more information please checkout our website at the link below or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
About the 2015 contest
[edit]Participants uploaded their photographs of the listed sites in Ireland to Wikimedia Commons from the 23rd August to 30th September under a free licence. From these pictures, ten will be awarded cash prizes. Uploaded photographs do not have to be taken during September 2015, but they must not have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons before. Participants are free to upload photographs of any eligible subject, even if Commons already has one or more photographs, but of course a new angle or a new detail is more useful to the project than simply repeating what has been done before.
This year the list of eligible sites was expanded to include structures from the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, as well as more sites that are under the care of local authorities.
Prizes
[edit]The awards for the competition are:
- 1st place: €200
- 2nd place: €100
- 3rd place: €75
- 4th-10th place €25
