What is wrong with the current education system in the US?
Leander Whitmore Jul, 17 2023 0From my perspective, the current US education system seems to be facing several critical issues. Standardized testing reduces learning to a mere numbers game, failing to account for creativity and critical thinking. The system is also heavily biased towards wealthier districts, creating an uneven playing field for students coming from poorer backgrounds. There's a lack of emphasis on practical skills, and many students are graduating without the necessary tools to survive in the real world. Finally, experienced, inspiring teachers are underpaid and undervalued, leading to a lack of motivation and increased burnout.

How does the US education system work?
Leander Whitmore Jul, 11 2023 0In my exploration of the US education system, I found that it is largely public, funded by federal, state, and local funds. Post-secondary education, often at colleges or universities, offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The system offers opportunities for specialized programs like advanced placement classes and is regulated by the Department of Education. However, the control of public schools lies primarily with each state, leading to significant variance in standards.
