
How does the US education system work?

Beginning with kindergarten, students progress through primary school and onto secondary school. Post-secondary education, often at colleges or universities, offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The system offers opportunities for specialized programs like advanced placement classes and is regulated by the Department of Education. However, the control of public schools lies primarily with each state, leading to significant variance in standards.
