Australia

From the Sydney Opera House slicing through the skyline to the desert plains of Darwin or the underwater paradise of the Barrier Reef. Australia is a country of contrasts that really offers everything you could want in a trip.

It’s quite difficult to travel in terms of time – it’s the sixth largest in the world – but because of the great connectivity via air, and increasingly good options for rail, you could foreseeably do a chunk of sightseeing in a specific region, if you pick wisely.

For us, we actually haven’t travelled too much in this vast Oceania country, only a few jaunts in Sydney and then the coastline between Cairns and Brisbane.

But we’re set to return again in 2019 to visit a few more secluded spots, soak in the food and coffee culture in world’s most livable city, Melbourne, and drive the Great Ocean Road. Lee is hoping to brush up on her (still relatively new) scuba diving skills, while James is more keen on exploring places like Adelaide and Brisbane, or ‘Brisvegas’ as it’s fondly known by our family living there.

We’ll also be taking the East Coast route again, starting off in the Daintree forest and making our way down, including stops in Townsville, Airlie Beach, the Whitsundays , Fraser Island and Noose Heads. Usually this is a self-drive but we’ll be trying out the Australia train service between the two points – watch out for that blog post coming soon!

For now, we’re ready and waiting to take more photos of the country, like we did in Sydney since we do love our Instagram guides.
